Students
receiving medications at school need them to be administered in a way
that is safe and as unobtrusive as possible. Diabetic students need a
safe place to test their insulin levels and receive insulin. In order
for hospital school teachers and doctors to feel confident when sending
their students back to a regular school, they need to know that their
students will be in a safe place. Certification requirements for nurses
who work with students with developmental disabilities need to be
reconsidered.
Homebound students need consistent quantity and quality education services across school systems
Some students aren't able to receive homebound instruction until they have missed four weeks of school.
We are collecting information on homebound teaching practices in NC and will make recommendations for best practices
Flexibility in state E.O.G. testing in the hospital
There are inconsistent rules between school systems, the test dates are often too inflexible and results need to be sent to home school system.
Enrollment in Hospital Schools
Some schools won't release their home students for enrollment in hospital schools.
