To all Members

A hearty welcome to all new members. I hope that many of our members were able to participate in the conference in Asheville as it was awesome!  Thank you, Bunny and the Executive Board, for preparing such a wonderful array of speakers and information.  Watch our website for pictures and more information about the conference.

We have a busy and exciting year ahead of us.  Fortunately, this will be an extended year, as we are moving the conference to October in 2008.  This next conference will be in Charlotte and one of my goals for this organization is to have more people experience the conference and offer more incredible speakers.  Plans have already begun so watch this website for unfolding information.

In addition to another awesome conference, I envision several great challenges for NCAECIC in this year to come:

    • Add more school nurses and homebound teachers to our membership!
    • Do the research and work with the NC legislature to get a bill presented to require and fund a full time nurse in every school in NC!
    • Double the amount of money in the scholarship fund so that we can give $1000 scholarships next year!
    • Meet with DPI and make recommendations for best practices for homebound for the entire state!
    • Have our website constantly updated so that all educators are looking to us for help in the classroom with all kinds of chronic illnesses!

If you have knowledge or and/or desire to be involved with any of the above, please contact me or any of the board and we will include you on those committees.  If you signed up for a committee at the conference, you will be hearing from the committee chair soon to establish committee goals and priorities before the first board meeting in May.

Communication is very important to an organization that encompasses such a large group of members from different disciplines.  We have the email addresses of all board members listed so that we can hear from members at any time during the year.  We’d love to hear your comments and/or desires for this organization.  Let us know how we can serve you.

I look forward to an exciting and successful year!

              Andi Pershelli, President
